Disk access is often a slow process. Therefore, unless you are working with VERY small systems, accessing the integrals stored on disk (AOINTS and MOINTS) is MUCH slower than recomputing them every time. Set
$scf dirscf=.t. $ end

and check CPU utilization. I believe performance will improve a lot :-)
