I read in the manuals that "$smp call64=.t. $end" should be included for Linux x64 computers. But I ran a job using FF8 (OpenMPI) on the 2 cores of the CPU without $smp (nor $p2p) keywords and I can see that both P2P and Call64 are used:
...
Activating Call64 option.
Using 64-bit DGEMM by default.
Loading P2P interface library... loaded successfully (version 1.D).
Initializing global P2P interface... topology done.
...

Are these manuals obsolete for FF8? Where could I find some details about $smp, $p2p, ... options, and how to efficiently run the jobs in parallel?
