Re^3: Firefly MPICH version statically linked: performance degradation using multiple nodes.

Hi,

>Can I use the same executable with IPoIB or do I need a special version?

Yes, you can use the same mpich binaries.

The point is that cluster should be configured by specific way to
allow mpich to use ipoib. You may need to ask for help of cluster
administrators. More specifically, the most common way to allow
old mpich programs to use ipoib is to have special (alternative)
names of nodes, and the way (e.g., DNS server) to resolve these
names to IP addresses assigned to IB cards. Then, you simply run
Firefly in parallel using these special names in procgrp file.

The simpler way is just not to use mpich version but rather
e.g., openmpi version of Firefly. First, you will be able to
use IB directly. However, if the required 32-bit libraries are
missed on your systems, you may specify the subnet assigned
to ib cards as the one which should be used for communications
over tcpip.
