Particle energy is less than sum of components energies

Hi,
when I add cation by cation the outersphere M+ cations to the complexes such as NbF6 (-) etc then occasionally I receive systems which energy is less than sum of initial particles energies. What does it mean? There is a deep local minimum on a falling down potential energy surface and algorithm "jams" in it? Or there are other reasons?
Thanks!
